From 24th till 26th of July 2015 Devin danced again! Municipality of Devin and Devin Dance Club had organized the second edition of Devin Dance Festival. The main goal of the festifal is to preserve intangible cultural heritage and, in particular, to promote and protect Bulgarian folklore. Amateur ensembles, dance schools and clubs meet again in the town of Devin to show the beauty of native songs and dances. Eligible to participate in the event were dance groups, amateur ensembles, schools, groups and clubs, with no age restrictions. The festival was not a competition. The second edition of Devin Dance Festival, as well as the first one, held in 2014, was opened with the performance of folklore singer Nadejda Bashov and Emil Cholakov bagpie performer. On the streets of Devin with their colorful clothes marched several dance clubs from the town of Krumovgrad, Karlovo, Razlog, Devin, Devin’s district Nastan and the village of Grohotno. The Brown Bear’s Museum is located to the side of the road between the Devil’s Throat cave and the Trigrad village. Visitors can listen to authentic recordings of the roar of bears and the gnarl of wolves and foxes and view casts of the tracks of various wild animals. The museum exhibit visualizes and presents interesting facts about the life of the brown bear. The interactive exhibit allows visitors to learn more about the behavior of the large predatory animals, their habitats, life cycle, the dangers related to their reproduction as well as get some advice on how to react if they encounter them in real life. Devin’s museum collection is established by the local Comunity Center. Remnants of the roads of the Old World are still visible along the ridges of Devin. One of them started from Besapara, crossed the Rhodopes to reach Philippi and Thessalonica, the other from Philippopolis meandering at the foot of Mt. Persenk, the villages of Beden and Trigrad connected Thrace with the Aegean Sea. There are numerous archaeological finds and historical monuments found during excavations carried out within the town and the region. The statue of God Hermes, the dancing maenad, military Thracian armors, tools, pottery, millstones and adornments are displayed in the museum collection of the Rodopska prosveta – 1923 Community Center in Devin.
