The Second Edition of Devin Dance Festival Was Held in July
From 24th till 26th of July 2015 Devin danced again! Municipality of Devin and Devin Dance Club had organized the second edition of Devin Dance Festival. The main goal of the festifal is to preserve intangible cultural heritage and, in particular, to promote and protect Bulgarian folklore. Amateur ensembles, dance schools and clubs meet again in the town of Devin to show the beauty of native songs and dances. Eligible to participate in the event were dance groups, amateur ensembles, schools, groups and clubs, with no age restrictions. The festival was not a competition. The second edition of Devin Dance Festival, as well as the first one, held in 2014, was opened with the performance of folklore singer Nadejda Bashov and Emil Cholakov bagpie performer. On the streets of Devin with their colorful clothes marched several dance clubs from the town of Krumovgrad, Karlovo, Razlog, Devin, Devin’s district Nastan and the village of Grohotno. The festivities ended with a lavish fireworks and lively dance that filled the square in the center of Devin. Second Successful Participation of the Tourist Region Western Rhodopes to the EMITT Travel Exhibition, Istanbul 2015
From 22th till 25th of January 2015 г., the tourist region Western Rhodopes was successfully presented for the second time at one of the biggest tourist exhibition in the world – East Mediterranean International Travel & Tourism Exhibition 2015 (EMITT), Istanbul. The participation of the tourist region Western Rhodopes was part of the national stand of Republic of Bulgaria. Many interesting meetings were held, including ones with the Mayor of Gelibolu (Republic of Turkey) and the Mayor of Çanakkale (Republic of Tourkey). The main topic of the meetings was establishing a partnership in the sectors of culture, agriculture and tourism. The opportunities for participation of our folklore and dance groups and ensembles in festivals organized in Turkey, and the participation of Turkish groups in feasts of the municipalities Devin, Dospat, Borino and Bratsigovo were discussed. There were also meetings with many tour operators and tour agents to whom the regional tourism product “The riches of the Western Rhodopes” was presented. Many meetings were held with immigrants from Bulgaria to Turkey, which with interest got acquainted with the conditions for tourism in the region.Read more
Tourist Region Western Rhodopes Presented at WTM London
Between 3rd and 6th of November 2014, a team from the four municipalities of Borino, Bratsigovo, Devin and Dospat participated in the world’s largest exhibition for tourism – WTM (World Travel Market) held in London. Despite the many problems of the national marketing, the opportunity to present and promote the region in such a major international forum was a great chance for tourism of the four municipalities. Accent in the presentation of the region were the opportunities to practice alternative tourism – rural, adventure, ecological, cultural, hunting and fishing, and spa and wellness tourism. Promotional materials representing the area were met with great interest, especially multimedia CD containing interesting information about the region, tourist packages of 5 and 3 nights, maps of routes, photos of cultural and natural attractions of the four municipalities and advertising movie representing in completeness the uniqueness of the region.Read more
Dospat’s Tourist Information Center Hosted Its First Exhibition
The first artist who exhibited his paintings in a solo exhibition at the Tourist Information Centre of the town of Dospat is Mrs. Elka Hadzhieva. She is a native of Dospat, a lawyer by profession and currently works as an administrative manager of District Court Devin. The tourist center has opened recently and has the ambition to be among the cultural centers of Dospat Municipality. In its spacious showroom are stacked 45 canvases painted in moments of happiness, as the artist herself said at the opening of the exhibition. Guests were greeted with a cake with honey and performances by bagpipe. In recognition of her contribution to enriching the cultural life of Dospat Municipality, Mrs. Hadzhieva received an honorary diploma from the Mayor of the municipality. The exhibition was opened on 22nd of August 2014 as part of the cultural celebrations of the municipality during its Feasts that took place on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of August and will remain in TIC-Dospat until the end of September 2014.Read more
